Spirit was an adorable puppy we initially chose to keep from the
litter. As the litter grew a bit older, her littermates were all keen
to work stock. Spirit was not. She would chase anything that moved;
water hoses and tennis balls being her favorite to chase. Anything
but sheep! As we primarily herd with our BCs, she didn't seem to interested
in herding, we chose to place her...and found her a home.
The home did not work out well so, of course, Spirit came home to
us. She was her silly athletic self (did I mention she can scale the
wall between pens and get out so she can come back into the house?).
One day we took her along herding in the hopes she would decide chasing
sheep was fun. Well that day the light bulb came on and when it did
it was a FLOOD light!
She is now a bold, overly pushy worker that has no problem going
to head or pushing from the rear. We are working diligently to encourage
her to rate her stock and stop when I tell her. Once we get that
down, we are hitting the trial field (hopefully in the spring of
2006). I think God was smiling down on me when Spirit was returned
to me... she is exactly what I wanted from the breeding and my impatience
almost lost it!!
This exciting cross is all spoken for at this time. However things
do change so you are welcome to send a questionnaire
so you maybe added to the list in case a pup comes available.
