Life for a puppy at Plum Ridge

All our litters are carefully planned well in advance, taking into consideration the parents pedigrees, structure and personality. We Here at Plum Ridge we are trying to preserve our breed's true type as well produce outstanding healthy family members.

All of our breeding stock have been checked for Dysplasia, both hips and elbows (using either OFA certification or PennHip). Their eyes are checked YEARLY by an ophthalmologist for any eye abnormalities (and registered with CERF). We also do OFA thyroid and cardiac certifications as well.

All our dogs (breeding and otherwise) are maintained on premium dog food, various supplements (for coat, energy and proper growth), and monthly heartworm preventative. All vaccinations are kept current as well.

Our pregnant bitches live the life of luxury in the house prior to delivery. The pups are whelped in the house and are raised underfoot.

We handle our puppies from day one and keep records on each individual puppy's progress.

Our puppies are exposed to sights and sounds while here. They learn to explore both inside and out. Weather permitting, they are taken outside to learn to play in water pools, on mini agility obstacles, and exposed to stock (if possible).

Your puppy will have already begun his housebreaking process by being introduced to a crate. They will also used to being on a leash and collar for walking, as well as being be exposed to car rides and other areas besides the farm.

All litters of puppies are maintained on a schedule of worming as well as vaccinations. The number for each depends on the age in which the puppy goes home.

All puppies have their eyes checked by an ophthalmologist prior to going to their new homes.

Pet Puppies are allowed to go to their new homes after 8 weeks of age. Show puppies go home a bit later (usually between 9 to 12 weeks).
