Audrey
was bred to Player with one 'tie'. As the time passed, I watched
her closely hoping to see signs of pregnancy and never saw any.
Hoping I was wrong she remained on puppy food, supplements and
lived in the house. Finally two days prior to her 'due' date I
finally noticed a tiny bit of changes and felt I might be lucky
enough to get one maybe two pups.
She
began to whelp a day ahead of her due date, and being a first
time Mom she was a bit confused and needed a fair amount of assistance.
I even enlisted the help of my vet's office to make sure all went
well. Five pups were born at my vet's office. These pups were
born very small and received a great deal of 'human' help from
me (& the vet's office) thru their first week. Sadly two were
not viable pups and passed very early on despite our best efforts
(those of myself & my vet's). The remaining three began to
thrive after the first week.
Due
to their 'interesting' start to life, my vet and I decided docking
their tails at the normal time was not a good choice. Therefore
these pups will be docked later on after they have grown larger.
If there happens to be a pet owner wanting their puppy to 'keep'
it's tail, that will be considered as well.
They
coloring on these pups has been a great surprise as well. I am
only taking applications on the females as pets/performance dogs,
meaning they must be spayed and can not be bred. The lone male
is a very 'special' interesting coloring. He is what is called
a TRUE phantom merle. His body markings is a very pretty and correct
black tri, however his tail is very much blue merle. Thus if he
were to be used for breeding he will genetically breed like a
blue merle (however after his tail docking he will 'appear' to
be a black tri). Due to their 'increased' white markings, I will
be taking this entire litter in to be hearing tested with the
BAER hearing process. And as usual I will be having their eyes
checked with a CERF exam prior to going home as well.
Audrey
has not settled into motherhood very well but now adores motherhood.
She takes great joy in her pups and is just thrilled with her
job.
These
pups should mature into tremendous movers and beautiful in structure.
Both Audrey and Player have great personalities and live to please
people. Player is a multiple Best of Breed winner in the breed
ring, as well as a consistent placer in the herding trial arena.
He is athletic and has boundless energy. Audrey is a silly girl
with personality plus. She loves to play with other dogs and interacts
well with people too.
